Swift Navigation Founders Honored in Inc. Magazine’s 30 Under 30 List of Coolest Young Entrepreneurs in America
Timothy Harris, Fergus Noble and Colin Beighley honored in list of America’s most dynamic young executives, who are tackling problems that have vexed society for generations
San Francisco, CA, May 27, 2016 – Swift Navigation, the San Francisco-based startup building centimeter-accurate GPS technology that will power a world of autonomous vehicles, is proud to announce that its founders, Timothy Harris (29), Fergus Noble (28) and Colin Beighley (27), have been honored in Inc.’s 30 Under 30 List of Coolest Young Entrepreneurs in America. For over 10 years, Inc. has featured 30 of the most dynamic companies in America led by young CEO’s under the age of 30, who are currently addressing problems that are unique to their generation of 80 million. Inc. recognized Swift Navigation’s founders for their innovative and breakthrough GPS technology’s “extraordinary potential to enable and help accelerate the arrival of the future”. Past 30 Under 30 winners have included Facebook, Airbnb, Box, Mint.com, Modcloth, Rent the Runway, Birchbox, Github, Squarespace and more.
From self-driving cars and drones to precision agriculture machinery and consumer robotics, Swift Navigation provides centimeter-accurate GPS for a future of autonomous vehicles to navigate the world. By moving GPS positioning from custom hardware to a flexible software-based receiver, Swift Navigation delivers Real Time Kinematics (RTK) GPS that is 100 times more accurate than the GPS in a cell phone at a fraction of the price of the competition. With over 1,500 customers for its first product, Piksi™, the company has already experienced high demand for its low-cost, high-performance GPS receiver. The company looks forward to introducing two next generation products in 2016.
Said Inc. editor Donna Fenn, "What's most astounding about the companies on our list is that it's tough to imagine many of them existing just a few years ago. A GPS system for drones and self-driving cars (Swift Navigation) would have seemed as unlikely as a legal wholesale marketplace for cannabis. But our honorees are not only capitalizing on the trends that will inform how we live, play, and work in the future. They're also helping shape that future. We welcome them to our 30 Under 30 community. We invite you to get a glimpse of that future."
To determine the top 30 Under 30 list, Inc’s editors and writers whittled 540 applications down to the most promising and inspirational, and then assembled a prestigious panel of judges to help make the final choices. Each judge, including two 30 Under 30 alums, received several applications to review and were asked for their top choices. They looked for amazing products, companies with the potential to have huge social impact and tremendous growth, as well as trend-setters and industry disrupters. This year’s thirty honorees, including Swift Navigation, were recognized for upping the ante on innovation. Olin Distinguished Professor of Global Business and Whole Foods Market Research Scholar in Conscious Capitalism at Babson College; co-founder and co-chairman of Conscious Capitalism Inc.; and co-author of Conscious Capitalism: Liberating the Heroic Spirit of Business (Harvard Business Review Publishing, 2013). “Accurate positioning is vital to so many breakthrough technologies. Swift Navigation has an elegant solution for this, and has already accumulated an impressive list of clients.”
“We couldn’t be more excited and humbled to be included on this iconic list,” said Tim Harris, CEO of Swift Navigation. “Every day we wake up excited to develop technology that will power a future of autonomous vehicles—literally, the things that will get you to work safely, get food on the table with a greater degree of security and productivity, and take people out of some of the most dangerous working environments in the world. We’re very grateful to Inc. for acknowledging our work and our commitment to this exciting new realm.”
