Frequently Asked Questions
Skylark’s superiority stems from its advanced modeling of atmospheric errors. This model uses observations from strategically placed ultra high quality reference stations that are built and operated in partnership with mobile network operators.
While other services simply manage access to a network of individual local stations, Skylark integrates data from all its stations working together, enhancing the accuracy and reliability of its corrections, and dramatically extending its coverage. Learn more about the benefits of atmospheric modeling in GNSS corrections here.
Skylark’s robustness has led it to be the first cloud-based real-time service of any kind to be ISO certified for automotive functional safety.
Skylark is available in three variants ranging in accuracy from 2 cm to 1 m while balancing coverage, power consumption, and cost across to meet the full range of requirements of location-based applications.
No. Skylark uses the internet (cellular or Wi-Fi) to deliver corrections directly to your GNSS receiver (rover device) using the NTRIP protocol. This eliminates the cost and complexity of purchasing, deploying, and maintaining physical base stations.
However, you do need a stable, low-latency Internet connection to receive the corrections and maintain an RTK Fix.
Skylark is hardware agnostic and supports a wide variety of GNSS receivers from industry-leading manufacturers. Look up your receiver to check its compatibility with Skylark or contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
The primary supported frame is ITRF2020 for all Skylark variants.
Skylark Nx RTK also supports the following regional reference frames: NAD83(2011) epoch 2010.0, ETRS89 with ETRF2000 realization, DREF91 (2016 German national realization of ETRS89).
With a monthly subscription, you can use the portal to stop or pause your subscription as needed for seasonal work (e.g., agriculture or construction).
No, we do not currently offer the capability to download RINEX or any historical data, only real-time corrections. To post-process, users would need to record corrections in real time themselves and then convert to RINEX.
Yes, Swift Navigation offers a comprehensive API that serves as a central component for partners to programmatically manage and integrate our precise positioning services.
The API's primary functions include:
Account and Device Management: Programmatically create, update, and manage NTRIP accounts and devices for your customer deployments.
Skylark Service Integration: Integrate Skylark directly into your own systems and applications.
Auto-Provisioning: Enable your devices to automatically register and activate/deactivate with Skylark upon connection, ensuring seamless deployment.
Monitoring and Status: Query real-time service status and access detailed coverage maps for various geographic regions.
Performance can be affected by factors like poor internet latency, sky view, or incorrect credentials. Please start by checking our RTK Troubleshooting article for self-service steps. If the issue persists, visit our support page or create a ticket.
