What is Galileo?

Galileo (GAL) is the European Union’s global navigation satellite system (GNSS), developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) and operated by the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA). Galileo provides highly accurate positioning and timing information worldwide, independent of other GNSS systems like GPS or GLONASS. It features multiple signal frequencies (E1, E5a, E5b) and offers services ranging from open access for general users to encrypted signals for government use.
